Concerned about slow Posterous site performance

I'm really concerned about Posterous's site performance.

They have a pretty awesome set of features, but I'm experiencing a lot of 30 seconds or great page-load times.

I've been working on getting more active with blogging, but am not sure this is the platform of choice anymore, because of this performance issue.

For what it's worth, I use Tumblr.com. It's pretty good for my needs.

I share your concerns. For me its more like 10-15 seconds for a page load, but that is still way past the acceptable range for load times.

Interesting to hear this feedback. It could be worthwhile to offer a blog speed-up service, as the blog services themselves are probably focused on other upgrades... I'll think on this...

yah it's really tempting to offer a fast caching-proxy front-end to posterous. probably could be offered for $29/yr... ;)

I also really like it in many ways but am starting to consider a migration because of lag when viewing and editing.

Just now reading these comments in December 2010 and super bummed about this crap!! Everything seemed to be working just ok when i started my Doctor Scotch blog which was mainly pics and gifs and youtubes. Then, the other day, all i did was change the Theme of my blog and now its totally f*kd. The gifs do not animate any more and it takes 4000 years to do anything on the site. I really hope this is temporary because i dont want to have to upload all the content again to another site. I emailed help at posterous . com about 5 days ago and have gotten zero response from them. Cmon guys, tighten up!

I was about to give them the benefit of a doubt since I just started to use them, but i noticed that this post is one year old and it is still very slow. I know it is a free service but it has to be at a minimum usable. I was contemplating squarespace but 12$/mo is a little be too much for what I need.

I have been using posterous since I left London on my travels. When I started using it back in August 2010 it was brilliant. I never had issues concerning performance or otherwise! But in the past 6 months or so, performance is dreadful. I have wasted hours of my time doing simple things that should have taken minutes on a well tended site!

I email help@posterous.com regularly only to be told that the slowness is because of maintenance work... or sometime I'm told they are looking at making improvements!

From what I see, the site is suffering from major performance degradation as times goes on. Unless they do something about this soon I will be looking to move to Wordpress. Managing my site has become a complete nightmare! Navigating my site my site is also pretty bad when it comes to performance!

It's a shame... I really thought the world of Posterous when I first signed up. Not good. Are they losing users over this?
